Our mission is to provide an academically stimulating environment to physicians training in pulmonary and critical care medicine. Our fellows learn to recognize uncommon syndromes as well as unusual presentations of common conditions. Treatment plans are expressed with familiarity of the current literature and awareness of the unique elements of each patient. Fellows are trained with state-of-the-art equipment as well as on the fundamentals of pulmonary physiology. Research experiences begin in the second year with opportunities to conduct basic science and clinical research. As a result of close mentorship, fellows present their work at scientific meetings and frequently submit data for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Perhaps most of all, however, we pride ourselves on the sensitivity that our fellows express to their patients and colleagues. The combined Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine / Montefiore Medical Center is a 3-year training program located in the North Bronx, New York. Each year, we select 4 fellows from approximately 300 applications received from the ERAS application system. Applications are usually received between November and January and those who are selected to interview, visit the institution between February and April. We participate in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). |
